Plans & Billing

CatalEx plans control how much you can do — how many agents you can build, how many runs you get each month, and how many people can join. Billing is managed in Settings, in two admin-only tabs: Usage & Quotas and Billing.

Who can manage billing

Only Admins and Owners see the Usage & Quotas and Billing tabs. Members can see their own usage contribution but can't change the plan.

Pro includes a base allowance of 5 agents, 5,000 credits per month, and 2 user seats, and unlocks Brain. Exact pricing and any current discount are shown in-app at checkout.

Brain is a Pro feature

Brain requires a Pro (or Enterprise) plan. On the Free plan you'll see an upgrade prompt where Brain would be.

Usage & Quotas

The Usage & Quotas tab shows your plan and three live meters under Current plan limits:

  • Credits — used vs. your monthly allowance (resets each cycle).
  • Agents — how many agents exist vs. your limit.
  • Users — seats used vs. your limit.

Each meter turns amber as you approach the limit and red once you hit it. When a limit is reached, agents and features that consume it are paused until you free up capacity or add more.

Adding capacity (Pro)

From this tab, Pro admins can:

  • Add agent seats and Add user seats — extra seats beyond the Pro base, billed per seat and prorated for the current cycle.
  • Buy credit packs — one-time credit packs used after your monthly credit allowance runs out. Credits never expire.

You can also see a per-user breakdown of credits and agents to understand where usage is going.

Upgrading to Pro

On the Free plan, admins see an Upgrade to Pro card (also reachable from the Upgrade pill in the sidebar). Upgrading takes you to a secure Stripe checkout; when payment completes, CatalEx confirms it and your new limits take effect. Members on the Free plan are pointed to their owner to upgrade.

Billing tab

The Billing tab is your record of payments:

  • Manage billing — opens the Stripe customer portal in a new tab, where you can update your card, view invoices, and manage the subscription.
  • Payment history — a table of past charges with Date, Description, Amount, Status, and links to each Invoice or Receipt.

Cancelling and resuming

From Usage & Quotas, Pro admins can Cancel the subscription. Pro stays active until the end of the current billing period, then reverts to the Regular (Free) plan. Before it ends, you can Resume to keep Pro. If a payment fails, a banner prompts you to Fix payment via the Stripe portal so Pro isn't interrupted.

FAQ

What happens when I hit a limit? A banner appears and the affected feature pauses. Admins can add seats, buy credit packs, or upgrade; members are pointed to their owner.

Do credits expire? No. Credits are used only after your monthly allowance is exhausted, and they carry over indefinitely.

What happens to my agents if I cancel Pro? Pro remains active until the end of your billing period, then your workspace returns to Regular limits. Your agents and data are preserved, but features and capacity above the Free tier become unavailable.

Where do I update my payment card? In the Billing tab, click Manage billing to open the Stripe portal.
