Connect Google Chat
You need a running messaging service with a public HTTPS address, an existing CatalEx agent, and a Google Cloud project where you can edit the Chat app. The project needs the Google Chat API enabled and a service account.
Configure the Chat app
- Open your agent’s Add channel → Google Chat → Add a new Google Chat app, or Settings → Channels → Add Google Chat app.
- Choose the agent and confirm the public web address.
- Open the Google Chat API configuration page from CatalEx. Copy the endpoint URL shown by setup exactly.
- In Google Cloud, keep Build this Chat app as a Workspace add-on selected, enable interactive features, and select Join spaces and group conversations.
- Under Connection settings, choose HTTP endpoint URL. Under Triggers, choose Use a common HTTP endpoint URL for all triggers and paste the endpoint from CatalEx.
- Set the app’s name, description and visibility for your intended users, then save.
If the configuration page is read-only, ask the project administrator for permission to edit it.
Authorize and verify
Download the intended service account’s JSON key into a private file. In CatalEx, supply the Cloud project number and select that key file. Keep the file private; do not paste it into chat or documentation.
Finish setup, then mention the app in a Google Chat space and confirm a reply in the thread. Check the conversation under the agent’s Google Chat channel in CatalEx. Group-chat replies also depend on admission by the messaging service’s administrator.
If verification stays pending, check that the project number and key belong to the same project, and that Google can reach the endpoint.
