Connect Slack
Start with a verified agent, a running messaging service and a public HTTPS address that Slack can reach. You need permission to create and install an app in the intended Slack workspace.
Connect an app
- Open your agent’s Add channel → Slack → Add a new Slack bot, or Settings → Channels → Add Slack bot.
- Choose Connect Slack and follow the setup checkpoints.
- Choose the agent when requested and confirm the service’s Public web address. For a local service, keep its tunnel running and pointed at the address CatalEx shows.
- Open Slack’s app-creation link from CatalEx. Create the app using the supplied manifest.
- Copy App ID, Client ID, Client Secret and Signing Secret from Slack’s Basic Information → App Credentials into CatalEx’s private fields.
- Continue to Slack and approve the installation. Return to CatalEx to finish verification.
If the workspace requires administrator approval, wait for that approval and use the setup dialog’s status check. Keep credentials private.
Assign and verify
If you set up the account from Settings, open your agent’s Add channel → Slack and select the available bot.
In Slack, mention the app in a channel it has joined and confirm that the agent replies in the thread. The Slack channel in CatalEx shows the conversation for inspection; send messages from Slack.
Open Access and limits on the Slack account card to configure its allowlist and blocklist using email addresses.
If setup stalls
A public address change may require updating the app manifest in Slack. Follow the dialog’s next action instead of creating another app. Check workspace approval, the app’s credentials and tunnel reachability before retrying.
A verified installation alone does not prove an agent reply. Always finish with the Slack message test.
