Client environment settings
These variables affect the catalex command-line process, not an agent’s permissions or server limits. Set one for a specific command when diagnosing slow networks, large responses or bounded history reads. Leave it unset to use the default; values are decimal integers in the listed range.
For example:
CATALEX_CLIENT_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS=60000 catalex status
This gives a request up to one minute; it cannot make an unreachable server respond. A shorter caller deadline still wins. Higher byte/frame/history budgets increase potential memory and network work.

CATALEX_RELAY_HOME selects an absolute configuration/state home; an empty value is invalid. Change it only to work with an intentionally separate installation. Saved connections and existing setup discovery then use that home.
For runtime capacity use advanced settings. For the remote computer selected by a command, use --connection NAME; do not change state-home variables to select a different server.
