Activity, history and usage
Read conversations
In the app, open an agent and its channel. Native chats let you send messages; messaging-channel views let you inspect the conversations that started in Slack, WhatsApp or Google Chat.
catalex chats list
catalex chats history CHAT_ID --pages 1 --json
catalex accounts chats list ACCOUNT_ID --json
catalex accounts chats show ACCOUNT_ID CHAT --json
Native-chat IDs and messaging chat references are different. For messaging use the reference returned by accounts chats list. Follow returned cursors for more pages; a partial or cached local history is not proof that the server has no other messages.
Agent settings activity
catalex agents activity AGENT_ID
Activity lists changes newest first, including the setting, outcome, time and source: app, terminal or an administrator conversation. This helps explain why behavior changed. A requested value and a confirmed applied value can differ; check the reported outcome.
Analytics and resource use
catalex analytics
catalex analytics summary --help
catalex usage
Analytics covers conversation distribution and activity; usage reports available CPU, memory, disk and token measurements. Use each command’s help for range, time zone and filters. Provider-reported token counts are not a billing invoice. Empty or unavailable measurements should not be read as zero use.
For a connected messaging server, catalex analytics --hosted, catalex hosting agents and catalex hosting sessions CONNECTOR_ID PROJECT_ID AGENT_ID inspect the data your connection is permitted to see. catalex transcript --help explains reading a messaging conversation snapshot. Remote results depend on the service’s capabilities and authority.
Other computers and history sync
An account can list chats handled by other computers. To change whether they appear:
catalex settings set controller.show_other_computers_chats=true
Set it to false to hide them in that view. This changes visibility, not storage or other people’s access. Earlier AI conversations may also sync to a connected server; check the Server page’s sync status before assuming it is complete. See Privacy Policy.
Earlier native sessions and archive
To import a known Codex or Claude Code session on this computer:
catalex projects list
catalex chats import --project PROJECT_ID --native-session SESSION_ID --title "Earlier work"
Use the project/folder ID from the list and the provider’s actual session ID. Import keeps its original identity; it is not a fabricated replacement transcript. catalex projects add --help and edit --help cover additional folder registration; an added project’s root is fixed.
catalex chats archive list --json
catalex chats archive restore
Restore attempts every archived chat missing on this computer and reports any that cannot be restored. Inspect the list before restoring. Everyday operation explains data preservation on removal and uninstall.
